Chelsea has been teaching, competing and performing "The Swing Dances" since the age of 15. Beginning with Lindy
Hop, the original "big band" swing that started in the 1940's, her love of all things swing spread to include the older, turn
of the century dances such as Charleston, Balboa, Collegiate Shag, Black Bottom and Cakewalk, as well as the Post-WWII
dances such as Jitterbug, Carolina Shag, Hustle and eventually West Coast Swing. Once she began doing West Coast, her love
of the dance became obvious. Winning her first WCS competition, she decided to continue expanding her knowledge of the dance.
After years of competing in and winning both Lindy Hop and West Coast competitions, Chelsea recently had
the opportunity to compete in the AANCE (America's Amateur Novice Competition Events) Tour. In order to qualify to dance at
the final, national competition, you must compete and win (or place) at various events across the country during the year.
Chelsea won or placed at 4 of these events, which allowed her to compete at America's Classic in the final.
After winning the AANCE Tour championship,
Chelsea is the 2007 National Non Pro Swing Champion
in both Strictly Swing and Jack and Jill.
Her teaching style is eclectic and fun, incorporating rhythms, moves and ideas found in a variety of her specialty
dances, as well as the solid foundational ideals of West Coast Swing.
